Keep It 100!

Proverbs 2:7 “He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity”

The Urban dictionary defines the phrase “Keep it 100” as to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. If you’re going to be honest you must be real and if you’re going to be real you have to come full circle.

The tragedy at times is that we try to be real based on our own comfort zones. What feels good to criticize or even demonize. However, sometimes we don’t always realise that being real can even mean being vulnerable and no one likes to endure life being that way. Too often we get caught up in the world’s philosophy of endurance- “Fake it till you make it”. That’s why I’d choose rather to say- “Don’t fake it, But make it”. If the hints earlier up didn’t ring a bell, I personally am allergic to anything “fake”. I breathe better with honesty around.

When we keep it 100 we relate better in our witness as Christians. So often others are discouraged by our various testimonies not because of the magnitude of the miracle but the biasness of the survival story. As in a court setting, you can’t triumph in case, without bringing the full evidence. This is by no means equating honesty to telling everyone your business, but people aren’t only motivated by your triumphs; they are encouraged by you sharing your failures.

As the Bible verse reminds us, we are challenged to be honest. God loves when we keep it real, for when we do, our words join hands with our actions.
