The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein... ~Psalm 24:1
I think we've reach to a point to ask, who does the world really belong to? Each time I look at the news I see terror, disaster, injustice, discrimination, diseases, war, crime and much more. I feel like this world is spiraling out of control.
But then I remember the lyrics of the hymn by Maltbie D. Babcock:
"This is my Father's world:
O let me ne'er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the Ruler yet.
This is my Father's world:
Why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King: let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let earth be glad!"
Babcock’s hymn is a meditation on God’s creative work, the echoes of his voice in creation, and the praise offered back to the Creator. Life is a gift from God. Your existence today is God’s mercy towards you. God is still in control of this world amidst the turmoil. God’s gifts are to lift up our faces to His, to awaken us to love Him. Every bad and imperfect thing drags us down to darkness; every good and perfect gift woos us into the light.
My prayer for you today is that you be cognizant that your existence on this world is God’s doing. With that in mind, I pray you will be thankful and allow Him to take Lordship over your life today.
Remember you are special and loved. Keep smiling and keep positive.
